People think Superman's strength is what makes him special. But it's not. It's the fact that he never uses all of it. Every second of every day, he's holding back not just his fists, but his voice, his speed, even his anger. Can you imagine living like that? Loving people with your whole heart but knowing you can never hold them too tightly? Never cry too hard, shout too loud, run too fast because one crack in your control could be the end of everything. That’s not power. That’s pain. That’s discipline. That’s loneliness. He’s not pretending to be human he’s working harder than anyone alive to be one. He could have flown so fast the air itself would've torn a country in half. He could have shouted and shattered mountains. I would love to see a movie that explores this topic in greater depth.

They're on the right track. Superman may seem like a god to normal people, but he's not and he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders, because that's what most people think he is, but he can't save everyone, and that's definitely something that eats him up inside, and I think this scene captures all of that perfectly.
