dude your hateboner for Clairo (someone who you [presumably] have never had an in-person interaction with) is so strange, and very lame. Your video about her and The Strokes and ‘Sofia’ doesn’t even come across as mean-spirited and crass, it just straightforwardly is those things. Practically all of the haughtily made criticisms you make of her are true of The Strokes - certainly of Julian at the very least. The fact of the matter is that the nepotism doesn’t make either artist bad, because ultimately both make very good music. Not to mention, that the criticism that you put forward of her that runs throughout that video - that her ‘product’ and brand as an artist is inauthentic and therefore that her fame has been achieved disingenuously (which to be fair i mostly agree with), is in my opinion, ironically the case for your video, in that it masquerades as an intellectual breakdown of ‘Sofia’ and the musicality and why it’s a copy of ITAO/YOLO, but it seems to me that a much, much bigger drive for you making that video was just so you could scrutinise her and her career and cherry pick clips of/about her, which kinda makes it just play like a hate piece. Given that you’ve gone out of your way to do this reel, i’m half assuming that you’re just trying to capitalise on whatever attention you’ve had off of the back of this stuff - and if that’s the case then i get i’m just feeding into it, but given that i really liked a good few of your covers, and you’re clearly a good musician, why not lean on that to grow your platform instead of producing distasteful, bitter pieces of content which you seem to present behind a very thin veil of intellectualism and humour in order to legitimise this as a ‘pursuit of the truth’, ‘i’m just stating the facts’ type of gimmick. End of the day, I suppose YOUR brand and platform is predicated upon imitating The Strokes and pretending to be Julian in like all your videos, so it would be pretty inauthentic of you to do anything but mindlessly glaze them.
