The song " Never on Sunday" also known by its Greek title" Ta Pedia tou Pirea" ( The Children of Piraeus)was sung originally by Melina Mercouri.The song was composed by Manos Hatzidakis. It was released in 1960 as part of the film " Never on Sunday" directed by Jules Dassin and starring Mercouri. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that same year.
