These 6 chants illuminate the more melodic, flightly, fragile side of Alkan, rather than the vehemently virtuoso side seen in most of his early work. In Op.65/6, Alkan's best-known small piece, quite progressive with it's "blue" grace-notes, sports a simple melody over waves of undulating arpeggios.
